Maths For Life Research - EYFS
We are looking for Nursery and Pre-School settings in the Surrey area to take part in a Maths For Life research project during the 2026/27 academic year. This will be entirely funded by Maths For Life and offer the opportunity for settings to access the Maths For Life programme and staff training for FREE.
Maths For Life prioritises solid foundations, scaffolding and the development of maths language in everyday, relatable scenarios. The programme’s flexibility allows learning to be individually tailored, and equal support is given to educators to ensure that student progress is based on secure understanding across a range of contexts.
Although the programme was developed primarily for students with special educational needs (SEN), the starting point begins at a developmental age of approximately 24 months thereby making it a viable programme to support early years pre-reception maths attainment.
The focus is also on developing the mathematical skill base of the EYFS practitioner. Addressing the educator’s relationship with maths in the training, the programme seeks to improve their mindset with understanding and knowledge. It focuses on the practical rather than theoretical.
Maths For Life’s mission is to bring the benefits of maths to everyone. The programme is specifically designed to be equitable – accessible to all irrespective of disadvantage, whether this is socio-economic or in the form of additional learning needs.
