The educator guides
The only essential ingredient is the educator guides. These contain the curriculum structure - levels, topics and objectives - delivered in an accessible way for all educators to understand and implement.
Book 1 covers the first two level of the Maths For Life programme - Foundations and Level 1. Book 2, 3, 4 and 5 contain Level 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively. The Foundations stage starts at the beginning with Topic 0 - the prenumber skills.
Every objective is broken down into the following sections:
What I particularly like is the simplicity of explanation: you do not have to be a qualified teacher or have a deep understanding of maths to work through this with a learner. Reading the ‘challenges’ section was also fascinating as a number of those apply to learners in general, not just those with learning difficulties. It made me think about some concepts I teach and what could go wrong.
Lisa Coe, Primary Maths Lead
Aimed at a broad audience, McGuigan points out that the book is developmental rather than age related, and it is intended to provide a clear path through the maths curriculum, with an emphasis on ‘maths for life’. This is an excellent book that clearly demonstrates the author’s love of maths and passion for making it accessible.
SEN Magazine, Book Review, Issue 110
Your book will be invaluable to me as a parent as there are so many opportunities to teach and learn maths out of school in our daily life, but it can be hard knowing how or where to start with some topics. Everything is so clear.
Wendy, Parent

The Prime Minister understands the importance of mathematical development for all children and your book will certainly assist both teachers and parents with this endeavour in a creative and fun method.
